Fishing

Fishing licenses are free in Blount County, and can be obtained online or from most county clerks, sporting good stores, hardware stores, boat docks and all TWRA offices. Read more about fishing licenses from TWRA.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency offers local and regional lake maps, a bank fishing guide, information about tournaments, fish identifications and more.

Blount County Community Offers Many Activities

If you’re looking for some warm-weather activities, they’re right around the corner in Louisville. The Blount county community boasts three parks around Fort Loudoun Lake and also offers other activities away from the water.
Louisville Point Park covers 16 acres and is oldest park in Louisville. The Tennessee River now covers most of what was once a vibrant town in the 1800s. The construction of the Fort Loudoun Dam flooded the area in 1943. The location came back to life the early 1970s under the incarnation of Louisville Point Park.
The park is located at the end of Cox Road, off Louisville Road. The pavilion is a primary feature, offering 12 picnic tables and a charcoal grill. There are also picnic areas with charcoal grills located throughout the park.
Louisville Point Park also has a boat ramp and a swimming area. Located in a cluster at the front of the park are a playground area, volleyball court and horseshoe pits.
Poland Creek Campground is located on Lowes Ferry Road. The campground has 33 sites, restrooms, a boat launch and parking. Camping is regulated on a first-come first-served basis.
Henry E. Beal Sr. Park has a loop trail which runs alongside a Fort Loudoun Lake cove off the west end of Topside Road at George Creek.
The park’s trail was covered with gravel until it was paved in 2012. Another paved trail available for walker is located around the Town Hall. “They are nice trails to walk on,” Webb said “They are easy on baby strollers, and you don’t have to worry about getting gravel in your shoe.”
Rowing is another water-based activity available in Louisville. East Tennessee Rowing Organization (ETRO) is located on 3452 Louisville Road. ETRO offers clinics and camps for youths and adults. For more information, go to www.igetrowing.com.

BICYCLE TRAILS

Louisville is a good place to break out the bicycle. According to www.mapmyride.com, Louisville has 80 courses with 702 routes. “This is a popular place for bicyclists,” Webb said. “I see them riding all the time.” Top cycling trails include Poland Creek/Louisville/Greenback Trail (72.5 km), Louisville Point Park Llama Loop (51.77km), and Topside/I-40 (49.65 km).

MARINA, BOAT RAMPS

Louisville landing Marina is a major stop during the spring/summer months. Located at 932 Boat Dock Road, the marina has slip rentals and a restaurant, Dockside Grill.

There are also boat ramps at Lowe’s Ferry Silo, Louisville Main Street and George Creek.

INDOOR ACTIVITIES

If you’re looking for indoor fun, K2 Volleyball Club, located at 2639 Topside Road, offers Beach volleyball, clinics, camps and a recreational summer league. 865-982-8870.

People wishing to beat the heat but stay active will also find plenty of activities at Town Hall Community Center.
